So Cow is essentially Brian Kelly who is originally from Galway but who has also spent time in South Korea where some of his early records were made. Gemma Hayes has just been announced as the support act for Ray Lamontagne who plays the Royal Theatre Castlebar on Sunday September 6. Gemma is enjoying the success of an artist that comes from years of hard work and love of music, and this showed this January when Hayes was nominated for Best Irish Female at the 2009 Meteor Irelands Music Awards. Hayes' third album The Hollow of Morning was released in May of last year in Ireland, and debuted at number 12 in the Irish Albums Chart, and earlier this year she performed at the Oscar Wilde party in Los Angeles, California. The annual event takes place days before the Oscars, and celebrates the best of Irish popular culture.

IN THE 1930s at the height of The Great Depression in the United States a songwriter and bandleader by the name of Bob Wills toured with a 21-piece orchestra bringing joy and cheer from coast to coast. Wills was a huge influence on performers such as Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, Buck Owens, and John Prine and is widely credited with raising the spirits of a nation through his Western Swing ensembles.

Director returned with a bang to the Royal Theatre Castlebar on Friday October 30. Their second album, I’ll Wait For Sound, was released in May charted at No 11 in the Irish charts and was preceded by the single, ‘Sing It Without A Tune’. Their second single, ‘Moment to Moment’, was released In Ireland in July. The band are due to tour outside of Ireland to support the release of the album in UK/mainland Europe on September 21.
